When it comes to your wedding day, the place you get married is kind of a big deal. It's what will be photographed in your pictures the entire day. So when a wedding photographer says it's a big deal, it really is.
One day I was reading through Alabama Southern Weddings magazine and it was filled with destination weddings all over the south. And I'm not going to lie to you, my photog heart skipped a beat. The locations were beautiful and I told myself that one day I wanted to branch out to traveling more with my photography business. Traveling is such a drive in my artistic vision. My husband can vouch for me that when I see something in a new place or literally a spot on the side of the road I get all giddy on the new gem I've found in a "spot to shoot"!
With all of that said, I have put together a list of my bucket list destination spots for weddings! All have been well thought out and swooned over equally in time. ;)
5.) Sea Island, Georgia
Sea Island sits on Georgia's coast and it a small, quaint little town. It is home to a Forbes 5-star rated luxury resort, the Sea Island Resort. The beach tied with the southern landscape of coastal trees makes this place a dream! This resort and wedding venue had me at spanish moss!
4.) Charleston, South Carolina
This waterfront town is known for its southern charm and relaxing atmosphere. Charleston has five local beaches to choose from and they are all beautiful! While the beach is always a fun trip, Charleston has so much more than that! The city scenery is absolutely stunning! I'm not sure what sold me more on this town, the historic but modern charm or the beaches! This location would be a gem for a wedding photog to travel and capture the swoon worthy scenery!
3.) Walland, Tennesee

While this town to some may not be considered a "destination town" but it is such a cute town with a gorgeous wedding venue called Blackberry Farms. Blackberry Farm is what sold me on this little town! It's located inside the Great Smokey Mountains and is a luxury getaway venue complete with white picket fences surrounding the site! Don't just take my word for this beautiful venue/town, go check it out for yourself here.
2.)New Orleans, Louisiana

I like to tell people that I lived a (some what) sheltered life as a child and I didn't travel much! It's true though! So now as an adult everything is intriguing to me and I want to visit and see everything I can! New Orleans is no exception to this! It's always been a destination that I've wanted to take time to go visit! It's one of those towns that I would want to stay a week and see it all and soak in the historic aspects of it too!
1.) Savannah, Georgia
Last fall I had a girls trip with my daughter to Savannah for the first time! It was such a dreamy town!! Literally saying it's beautiful doesn't do it much justice. It's filled with historic buildings, cobblestone streets, moss covered trees and so much more! This town is just filled with so many gems to take portraits! I'll have to pull together some of my favorite images from that trip and blog it after this now!!
So there you have it! These are my top 5 bucket list destinations to travel to! if you're planning a trip to one of these cities or any other city and would like to talk to me about a destination shoot send me an email to hayleygibbsphotography@gmail.com!
